Introduction
Any tree that
can be a potential timber is called standing timber. The world of forest
consists of different species, mainly of two categories: softwood and
hardwood which are spread all over the world. Some of the major species of
wood are processed and used for timber and wood business.
Some of the species have different local names in different countries and
differ from one geographical area to area, e.g. some of the characteristics
of the same specie grown in Indonesia and Burma will differ. Such species
can be referred to as the sibling species of the main species.
